Ace football coach of Utah State, Gary Andersen is all set to become head coach at University of Wisconsin, said reports.

According to an ESPN report, Wisconsin has apparently picked Andersen to succeed Bret Bielema, who lately opted out for an Arkansas job. However, there is no official word on it.

"Andersen is UW athletic director Barry Alvarez's choice to succeed Bret Bielema, who left to become the head coach at Arkansas," reported Wisconsin State Journal.

Reports said that Andersen had an interview with Wisconsin Monday.

This development comes a few weeks after Andersen announced that he would stick to his job as coach of Utah State football team, following the rumors of his quitting. His current employer also renewed his contract in October.

According to the new deal made by Utah State leadership, it would keep Andersen at USU through the 2018 season, besides providing room for continued salary increases for all of his assistant coaches.

"I plan to remain the head football coach at Utah State University," Andersen said, while announcing his decision to stay at USU, in a press release earlier.

"The interest I have received is a compliment to the quality young men in this program. Their hard work and dedication has built a culture that will enable us to continue to be successful at a very high level moving forward," he added

"I love Cache Valley, this university and these young men, and I am humbled and excited to continue to be the coach here. The leadership of President (Stan) Albrecht and Mr. Barnes, as well as the support from the fans and community, are big reasons why this is the right place for myself and my family at this time," Andersen said.

Andersen came into fame after leading the USU team to a significant victory after 19 years.

Utah State (10-2, 6-0 WAC) completed its most successful regular season in school history as it set single-season records for wins (10) and home wins (6), while recording its first outright league championship since 1936 and its 11th in school history as it became the first team in USU history to post a 6-0 conference record, said the university.

In four years at Utah State, Andersen was 27-24, including this season's 11-2 mark. The Aggies nearly went unbeaten, losing only to Wisconsin and BYU, 6-3, reported ESPN.

Lately, Andersen has reportedly refused to accept two offers prior to Wisconsin.
