The biggest strike against the Big 12 (aside from the lack of a championship game) has been the weak nonconference schedules its teams play, but there will be no such concerns at this point of the season.

The undefeated Oklahoma State Cowboys (6) control the Big 12, as the Baylor Bears (10), Oklahoma Sooners (7), and TCU Horned Frogs (18) all trail them with one loss apiece. But for any of these teams to make the CFP, they will have to get through playing the other three and remain relatively unscathed.

With two games left to play, that can most easily be done by Oklahoma State, because the Cowboys simply need to win out and they are the Big 12 Champs. And that starts with a home game against Baylor.

Art Briles, Baylor's head coach, was optimistic quarterback Jarrett Stidham would play on Saturday, but the true freshman did not play well in the team's loss to Oklahoma. Even if he is healthy, he cannot afford to turn the ball over to an Oklahoma State offense averaging 353 passing yards per game with a two-QB system.

But for Baylor, the challenge will be keeping that offense on the sideline.

"I think they're very creative - they have a lot of variety on the defensive side of the ball between a four-man, three-man front and their coverages on the back end," Briles said of Oklahoma State's defense during his weekly press conference. "[Glenn] Spencer has been there awhile, he was there with Bill Young and when he retired he took over and maintained the same structure, the same philosophy and has done a really good job. And they have really good guys, they have good people."
