The University of Miami (UM) secured commitments from two top high school basketball prospects within hours of each other on Wednesday.

First, four-star shooting guard Bruce Brown announced he chose UM over Indiana, only for the Hurricanes to pick up a commitment from five-star power forward Dewan Huell later in the day, ESPN reported.

"I had thought about putting this off until the spring, but to be honest, I wanted to get this done," Huell told The Miami Herald. "I called coach last night and told him, I'm ready to commit. I barely slept just from the excitement."

Considered one of the 10 best big men in the class of 2016, Huell is a Miami native and was likely considered much more of a lock than Brown. A Top-10 shooting guard, Brown narrowed his decision down to UM and Indiana after previously considering Xavier, Purdue and UMass, ESPN learned.

247 Sports rated Huell with a 0.9912 composite score and Brown with a 0.9829 score, both of which ranked among the nation's 50 best prospects in the class of 2016. The two commitments helped UM's basketball recruiting class shoot up to ninth overall in ESPN's rankings after not being ranked at all.

"I developed a great relationship with Coach Brunt, Coach Caputo and Coach L," Brown told ESPN. "They came up to see me even after my visit and they were one of the only schools who did that."
