Educational institutions have come of age, gone are the days when the learning process was only confined to the classrooms.

A student requires more than classroom education to survive in the cut-throat world of competition. Theory and practical training goes hand in hand in shaping a student's personality according to the requirements of the employers.

Meanwhile, students also completely understand the importance of interning during their graduation simultaneously in order to achieve a high level of expertise of a particular subject.

According to a newspaper report, internships in the U.S. have taken a huge leap over the years. Tens and thousands of students opt for internship at some point in their graduation program or would have done their internship even before joining a post-graduation program.

On the other hand, getting a substantive internship is not a cakewalk. But the students, who manage to hit the right chord with their internship, have better job prospects than a normal graduate with no prior job experience.

U.S. News has shortlisted top national universities that produce most interns on the account of the data it gathered from its survey and other means. According to its rankings, Clarkson University in New York has topped the list with 86 percent of graduating seniors with internship experience.

"Of the 330 ranked colleges and universities that reported internship data in 2012 for the graduating class of 2011, an average of 36.9 percent of students held internships at some point in their undergraduate studies," said the U.S. News.
