Two major universities from the U.S. have contributed a record number of students who have qualified for the prestigious Rhodes Scholarships. They will be joining the post-graduation programme at the prestigious Oxford University in England as early as 2013.
Thirty two young men and women from America have secured the Scholarship. Among them about 13 students are from Harvard and Yale Universities. Rhodes picks up bright students from across the world and funds their education programme at University of Oxford for two- three years or more.
Seven students of Yale and six of Harvard students have been named Rhodes Scholars for 2013.

Aidan C. de B. Daly, Julian B. Gewirtz, Allan J. Hsiao, Benjamin B.H. Wilcox, Nina M. Yancy, and Phillip Z. Yao, have been selected as Harvard's newest Rhodes scholars. "This year's awards bring the ranks of Harvard's Rhodes Scholars to 342," said the university.
"Eight students- five undergraduates and three recent alumni - will be studying in Britain and Ireland next year as either Rhodes or Mitchell Scholars," said Yale in a statement. "Seven of the students were awarded 2013 Rhodes Scholarships for study in Britain. This is not only a record number of Yale students chosen in one year, but Yale boasts the highest number of U.S. Rhodes Scholars for 2013."
The Yale students who won Rhodes Scholarships for 2012 are : Jennifer Bright, David Carel Rhiana, Gunn-Wright, Micah Johnson, Catherine Laporte-Oshiro, Benjamine Liu and Dakota McCoy.
Lone Yale student Harold McNamara has won the George J. Mitchell Scholarship sponsored by the U.S.-Ireland Alliance.
