Joe Biden to Promote 2nd Annual It's On Us Week of Action With Mini College Tour
ByWith the White House promoting its second annual "Week of Action" to promote the It's On Us campaign, Vice President Joe Biden will visit a few colleges to discuss campus sexual assault.
Biden will start his mini-tour at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. on Nov. 9, an engagement that will include a panel discussion, USA Today College reported. He will follow that visit up with addresses at Clemson University in Clemson, S.C. and Morehouse College in Atlanta, Ga.
The Association of American Universities and The Washington Post/Keiser Family Foundation both released polls earlier this year backing up past statistics that indicate one in every five women will experience sexual assault during four years at college.
Last year, the Obama Administration launched ItsOnUs.org to raise awareness about campus sexual assault with the intent to educate young men about sexual misconduct. To mark the second year of It's On Us, College Humor released a video featuring five guys watching sports while a hungry bear sits in the bathroom.
When Rob Riggle (of "The Daily Show" fame) notices the bear, and understandably freaks out, Jake Johnson (Nick Miller on FOX's "New Girl") downplays it, saying things like "just pretend it's not there" and "I don't know what to do about it, so I just ignore it." Meanwhile, his four friends - including "New Girl" co-star Lamorne Morris - are flabbergasted Johnson does not care more about the issue at hand and does not realize the danger... get it?
"As a bro, you kind of look the other way and there's a line a bro won't cross against another bro," The Huffington Post quoted Johnson telling reporters about the video. "I think that is so tired."
