The Baylor Bears (6) will be heavily favored against the Kansas State Wildcats Thursday, even on the road, but they face a test nonetheless.

Their starting quarterback Seth Russell out for the remainder of the season, Baylor will turn to Jarrett Stidham, a true freshman who has only played at the end of the Bears' blowout wins this season.

Kansas State is 0-4 against Big 12 teams and is allowing 417 yards per game. While Kansas State appears to be another pushover during a soft schedule for Baylor, it will be important for Stidham to execute and limit mistakes.

Baylor's College Football Playoff (CFP) ranking was likely influenced by Russell's injury and their weak schedule, and the Bears have an opportunity to rectify both. Beyond this weekend, Baylor plays Oklahoma at home before hitting the road to play Oklahoma State and TCU, all in consecutive weeks.

"Stidham's deal is he's been going all along anyway. In practice, our (backups) get as many reps as our [starters]," Baylor head football coach Art Briles said in his weekly press conference. "From that standpoint, there was no difference there except he was working with a few different people over the last few practices."
