The Florida Gators (11) cannot clinch the SEC East and will not be able to do so for another few weeks, but beating the Georgia Bulldogs will be an important step in that direction.

Unlike the contentious SEC West, the East appears to be a two-team race, and Florida is leading Georgia by one game for first place. Additionally, Florida schedule after playing Georgia is particularly soft leading up to the season finale against Florida State.

"They can read the standings," Florida head football coach Jim McElwain said in his weekly press conference. "That takes care of itself if you do all the things you need to do to be successful. I don't think there's a need to give all these what-ifs and all that kind of stuff, only because if you don't do what you're supposed to do, then you're not going to be talking about it anyway.

"I'm excited to get them together and see where they're at and see if we're willing to throw our chips in the bucket and go all in."

On the other hand, beating Florida would be a major step for Georgia to get back into contention for the SEC title game.

"I thought the guys showed a lot of purpose and focus and energy coming off their break," Georgia head football coach Mark Richt said after Monday's practice. "It was a good start to the week and we'll keep it going... We'll continue to stress the fundamentals and keep trying to get better at what we do."
