An Emporia State University Junior who's been missing since she took a secret trip to Germany is being vigorously searched for by the authorities in the nation as well as overseas.

Emilee Irsik, a 20-year old Wichita native was pursuing her undergraduate degree in German.

According to a Facebook page created by friends and family to locate her, Irsik flew on American Airlines from Wichita to Dallas-Fort Worth International, and then to London Heathrow Airport, on Oct. 19.

She then flew on British Airways to Hamburg, Germany arriving on October 20. She was to return to Wichita on October 26. But, Irsik reportedly did not board her scheduled return flight and has not rebooked on a later flight. Nobody is aware of her whereabouts since then.

Incidentally, her parents were not aware of this trip that she planned to make to Germany. She stayed on campus facility and had told her parents she would not be coming home for fall break.

"While it was very out of character for her to have made this trip in such a secretive nature, it's very unlike her even more so to not return when she had scheduled herself to come back," her mother, Sherry, said to Kansas City Star.

According to her parents she wanted to study one semester abroad in Germany, but they talked her out of it saying the fall-break was too short to travel to Germany and the money would be better spent on her education here. But, they say Irsik did not appear upset after the conversation.

However, it appears she held on to the idea flew over to Germany without informing her folks in North Carolina.

When Irsik did not return to university after the four-day break, her roommates informed the dorm room staff following which the university police were contacted by the Emporia State officials.

"We want to make sure that Emilee is fine," said Lynn Hobson, associate vice-president of student life to KCTV5.

"Our hopes and prayers are with Emilee's family and her friends as they deal with the uncertainties right now."

Irsik's phone has been switched off since the disappearance and the various attempts made by family and friends to contact her through email, facebook and other social media network has had no avail.

There's a possibility that she visited Trier University, University of Hanover, or Bielefeld University in Germany.
