Students of University at Buffalo might be little too old for going trick or treating, but that did not stop them from enjoying a little treat of their own this Halloween, until, of course, cops busted their party.
According to Digital Journal, Buffalo narcotics Detective Sgt. Timothy Mulhern said his detectives came away with a haul of 640 Jolly Lolly lollipops made out of marijuana, hard-candy with marijuana in it, chocolate-flavored marijuana and 5 pounds of old school Mary Jane pot. In addition, the state police also found $13,000 in cash at the scene.
The Delaware Avenue apartment where the pot party was going on reportedly belongs to a UB alumnus, 26-year-old Alexander Zito, also the host of the party. The UB students at the scene were extremely high according to the police and one of them apparently was not in his senses to understand what was going on.
"One of the students was so high that we thought he was going to pass out," Mulhern said.
Apparently, the police also found hashish and crack cocaine.
As Buffalo News reports, Zito informed the police searching his apartment that he was planning on to return to UB for a Master's degree. Also, the materials found during the search, identified Zito as the owner of a medical marijuana shop in San Diego.
He apparently arranges to obtain the marijuana on trips to California under the guise that it is for medicinal purposes and then has it shipped here through the U.S. Postal Service. But, medical marijuana is illegal in New York, not in California.
According to the police, though Zito claimed to be unemployed for quite a sometime, he is in a good shape financially.
Buffalo News reports:
"Police found records indicating his rent was paid six months in advance and the furniture in his residence was brand new."
Zito has been charged with felony possession of marijuana and cocaine.
