On a recent college visit to Brown University, Malia Obama went to a party, so naturally the other partygoers were compelled to publicize their experience.

The Daily Caller obtained a Snapchat photo of the President's eldest daughter standing near some red solo cups in beer pong formation. The website also shared screenshots of tweets from attendees who said Obama was not only at the party, but was an active participant in said game of beer pong.

In light of the story going viral, The Brown Daily Herald issued an apology to Malia Obama on behalf of the students responsible.

"We often do not think about our tweets and Snapchats reaching anyone besides our friends and followers, and certainly not news outlets with wide circulation like BuzzFeed," read the op-ed. "Many Brown students were surprised and embarrassed to see themselves cited in the articles, as other Brown students posted them on Facebook with disappointed captions that criticized their peers for not simply leaving the 17-year-old alone on her college visit."

The Brown student newspaper also pointed out that Obama's college application process is grabbing national headlines without the help of eagle-eyed citizen journalists like the ones who "reported" on her visit to the Rhode Island Ivy League school.

The New York Times reported in early Oct. that she had already visited three-quarters of the Ivy League: Brown, Columbia, Harvard, Princeton (her mom's alma mater), Penn, and Yale. Additionally, she has visited elite schools such as Stanford, UC - Berkeley, NYU, Barnard, Tufts, and Wesleyan.

Whether a public apology was truly warranted or not and whether The White House even needs to release a statement, Malia Obama is probably not attending Brown.
