The University of Florida (UF) suspended Deiondre Porter indefinitely from the football following his arrest on four felony charges.

A freshman defensive back and a key contributor on special teams for the Gators, Porter was arrested Wednesday for aggravated assault, The Associated Press reported. He was also charges with aggravated battery, firing a weapon into a vehicle or building, and two charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill.

His fifth charge was a misdemeanor property damage of less than $200, according to Alachua County court records.

UF head football coach Jim McElwain confirmed Porter's suspension during his weekly teleconference with reporters, though he noted there is not a term for the suspension.

"He's no longer with the football team," he said. "He's suspended indefinitely for obviously a choice. It's his choice not to be with us. I'm sure you'll read about it soon enough. It's one of those things that we don't obviously condone. Like I said, it was his choice."

Porter is the second player the Gators have lost indefinitely this week, as quarterback Will Grier was suspended for a calendar year for a positive performance-enhancing drug test. Unlike Grier's suspension - other than the fact that it came from the NCAA - Porter's punishment does not have a term and is likely pending the results of an investigation.

At 6-0 and ranked eighth in the nation, Florida sits atop the SEC East and is scheduled to play sixth-ranked LSU this Saturday in Baton Rouge.
