The University of Texas- Pan American has reportedly investigating a possible kidnapping on campus and has requested public's help in finding the victim.

According to the university's website the university police are working with the local law enforcement agencies to 'investigate an abduction that occurred Tuesday, September 25 at approximately 7:15 p.m. in a parking lot on the University campus.'

A witness reportedly saw a woman forced into a vehicle silver-and-black vehicle, possibly a Mercury Cougar, in Lot T2, near Van Week and the Education Building by two men Tuesday night. One of the men had his hand over her mouth, witness says.

The witness immediately contacted the UTPA police and by Tuesday night the Facebook page of the university was posted with an alert.

The university has not identified the victim and has not released any specific details about the incident.

"While this is a very serious incident, there is no evidence of a continued threat to the campus community," reads the statement.

"The university is very concerned about the welfare of its students, faculty, staff, and visitors and is making every effort to ensure campus safety."

The two suspects involved in the kidnapping are described as Hispanic males.

The first suspect is described as having a dark complexion with a light beard and wearing a striped shirt with a tattoo or birthmark on his left arm. While second was described as about 5 feet 8 inches tall, in his mid- to late 20s and weighing about 240 pounds. He was wearing a dark-colored shirt, reports The Monitor.

Earlier, this year a high school teen's body was found on UTPA campus.

Many students are urging the university to strengthen its security to ensure the safety of those on campus. As evident on Facebook comments students are concerned about lack of police presence, especially in the parking lots.

Anyone with information on the kidnapping is requested to contact UTPA Police Department at 956-665-7151.
