A Northwestern University student has been reported missing after attending an off-campus party early Saturday.

Harsha Maddula, an 18-year-old sophomore at the university was last seen Sept.22 at approximately 12.30 a.m. leaving a party at 2013 Ridge Ave., as per the university website.

According to the missing student's aunt Surekha Maddula, he attended the said party with a group of 10 friends and went missing immediately after some of his friends chose to go to a different location, she said, probably to another party, reports Chicago Sun-Times.

Acquaintances of Maddula at the same party said he was totally in control of his senses and did not appear to be intoxicated or incoherent.

His parents and uncle arrived in Evanston Monday from their hometown on Long Island, N.Y., to aid in the search for the pre-med engineering student.

According to the Sun-Times, he disappeared just three days after his return to campus from Long Island, where his tight-knit family was helping him recover from the news of his diagnosis of Diabetes.

According to the student newspaper, The Daily Northwestern, University Police is investigating his disappearance.

Cmdr. Darren Davis told the newspaper earlier Monday that Maddula was reported 'contacted but not seen' around 6.45 p.m. Saturday, but the situation was reportedly upgraded to a missing person report by Sunday afternoon.

"We are trying to find him," Davis said. "We are canvassing the area, talking to people who might know his whereabouts and checking the vicinity on and off campus."

They have ruled out the possibility of foul play.

A Facebook Group has been created to gather as much info as possible about his disappearance.

One of the recent posts on the group alleges the authorities of not putting much effort into finding Maddula.

The post reads:

"So a lot of you have been asking me for an update

Harsha Maddula is still missing

The police at the city level barely helped

The FBI refuses to get involved

The University police have barely canvassed the area"

The university has posted an emergency alert on its website. The Daily says the alert came 50 hours after the police first heard of Maddula's situation.

It describes Maddula as a male of Indian descent, 18 years old, 5 feet 4 inches tall, 135 pounds, with black hair and wearing black-framed glasses. He was last seen wearing a grey long sleeve sweater with white and black stitching. He was also wearing dark grey pants and brown shoes.

Any information on the whereabouts of Harsha Maddula is to be reported to Northwestern University Police at 847-491-3254.
