Donald Trump to Speak to Largest Audience at Liberty University
ByDonald Trump is known for his tough talk without mincing any words. Students of Liberty University are going to get a taste of his wizardry Sept.24, Monday when he will address them at the university's convocation.
The program will begin at 10 a.m. at Vines Center on the campus of Liberty University. At the same event, the university will be awarding Trump with an honorary doctorate in business.
The largest Christian University in the world with more than 100,000 students, Liberty University will witness Trump's talk while he delivers a wide-ranging address to an audience of North American evangelicals discussing success and politics, the role of faith in society, and the particular contribution that this generation of youth can and must make to preserve freedom in America.
The local community's response to Trump's expected arrival has been extraordinary and hence in addition to the limited seating in the 10,000-seat Vines Center, the university has made two satellite locations available for the overflow audience, said Liberty University Chancellor Jerry Falwell, Jr. Liberty's more than 80,000 online students will also have access to his speech. According to Falwell the speech will be viewed live by the largest number of students in the 40 year history of Liberty University.
"We have never received this amount of positive feedback for a single Convocation speaker," Falwell said.
"The themes of Trump's newest book, 'Time To Get Tough: Making America #1 Again' obviously resonate with the Liberty community and could make him the most popular Convocation speaker in our history."
He also added that Trump is one of those very few conservatives who are openly trying to fight 'the preservation of capitalism, the free enterprise system, and limited government.'
"A proponent of these values is a friend of Liberty University," he said.
Thousands of additional viewers will be able to watch the event live in the Thomas Road Baptist Church sanctuary and in the Towns Alumni Lecture Hall.
The convocation ceremony will also be available online for Liberty's more than 80,000 online students.
Trump and Falwell are expected to hold a press conference immediately after the convocation.
