Whether it was the array of samples, the catchy hooks, or the clever lyricism, Kanye West's music appealed to one Belmont University student in a unique way.

An undergraduate business major at Belmont and an intern at Reverb.com, Jacob Brody recorded himself playing guitar over the critically acclaimed rapper's entire catalogue. Reverb.com has the video on its website here.

"I learned most of these songs by ear and decided to record my interpretations. The camera only let me record 15-25 minutes so each 15-25 minute take was done in one attempt," he told the website. "There are mistakes... I know. I switch guitars because some songs are in different tunings. Some songs change keys mid-song."

In addition to the "mistakes," Brody emphasized that his six-hour video is nothing more than a tribute, though YouTube took the video down regardless.

He told USA Today College he did not get into hip-hop music until "about three years ago." Brody said "Power" was the first of West's songs he was exposed to and was taken aback to hear a sample of a song by King Crimson.

Since bursting onto the scene with "Through the Wire," West has a litany of hit singles and critically acclaimed albums, all laced with samples from artists such as Chaka Khan, 2Pac, Ray Charles, Elton John, Daft Punk, Michael Jackson, Black Sabbath, Bon Iver, and many more.

The Verge compiled a list of all the rapper's samples complete with a Spotify playlist of the original tracks.

Brody told USA Today College his guitar heroes are David Gilmour, George Harrison, Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughn.
