Ohio State - Michigan Rivalry: Urban Meyer Will Not Tolerate the Color Blue in His Classroom (LOOK)
ByIn teaching a class on coaching college football, Urban Meyer is taking after his predecessor at Ohio State University, though with his own wrinkle.
Tony Alford, Meyer's running backs assistant coach with the Buckeyes posted a photo to his Instagram account showing Meyer at the head of the classroom. Only Meyer did not appear to be lecturing, and was pointing toward the ground.
"Coach Meyer teaching class today and having students that showed up in blue do some push ups," Alford wrote in the image's caption.
With Michigan hiring Jim Harbaugh to take over the football team, a lot of fans are excited to see one of the nation's oldest rivalries heat up once again and Meyer is doing his part to ramp up the intensity. The students doing pushups were not even wearing the navy shade of blue "that team up north" is accustomed to.
Meyer's class is the same one Jim Tressel taught during his tenure at Ohio State. While several athletic coaches at U.S. colleges teach their own class, those who do so during their season are rare. Tressel did it and now it appears Meyer is as well.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Tressel would quiz his class on various Ohio State traditions. One such tradition is the Victory Bell, which is rung after wins and on graduation day. He also offered up some clever quips and sought insider recruiting tips.
"You never want a name at the top of the alphabet," The Journal quoted Tressel saying in his class at the time, "you might get some lates."
