Princeton Review: Kenyon College Tops 'Best Athletic Facilities' List For Second Year
ByKenyon College in Ohio garnered the top spot in Princeton Review's "Best Athletic Facilities" ranking for the second year in a row.
The Princeton Review recently ranked colleges based on reviews from 136,000 students at 380 top colleges. Students were asked to rate their schools on dozens of topics and report on their campus experiences.
School officials believe Kenyon College's athletic center had plenty to do with the high ranking, which considered campuses across all NCAA divisions.
Debuting in January 2006, the Kenyon Athletic Center (KAC) features tall glass walls and open views throughout the building, helping promote the friendly interactions that shape Kenyon's spirit of community. The building houses the 200-meter Barrett A. Toan Indoor Track, an Olympic-sized pool within the Steen Aquatic Center, the 1,600-seat Tomsich Arena for basketball and volleyball, four indoor courts within the Jasper Tennis Center, a Multi-Activity Court for recreational use, and the stunning 12,000 square foot state-of-the-art Patterson Fitness Center that holds over 200 pieces of exercise equipment.
The Gambier-based liberal arts college also checked in with its usual high marks on lists for "Best College," "Green College," and "Best College Theater."
"Our 62 ranking lists provide students with a way to see the types of colleges that could help them achieve their future goals and dreams," Robert Franek, Princeton Review's senior vice president-publisher, said in a statement. "Every college in our book has outstanding academics. While our purpose is not to crown one college academically 'best' overall or to rank the schools 1 to 380 on any single topic, our lists provide direct student feedback on the schools' campus culture, program offerings and cost. Our goal is to help applicants choose and get into their dream college -- the college best for them."
