The Open source mobile platform provider, Modo Labs has introduced two powerful new modules for its Kurugo Mobile Campus Solution-The Admission and Tour modules- to aid universities in their efforts to attract students toward their schools.

The Mobile Campus provides the solutions to help the universities to establish a comprehensive mobile presence via iOS and Android native apps and the mobile web. Hence, through mobile campus universities can better engage with prospective students, current students, faculty, alumni and staff.

According to the National Research Centre for College & University Admissions, 52 percent of prospective college students used their mobile devices to research school websites in 2011. Hence, these mobile admissions and mobile tours are expected to increase interest and enrolment processes in the universities.

The Admissions module, through its critical content, lets schools engage prospective students and parents with information about the school, its curriculum, daily life on campus, the application process and more. It enables universities to deliver application requirements and information needed to support recruitment and admissions efforts. It also includes the options of connecting to school's Facebook, Twitter and other Social media sites from Mobile Campus.

The Tour module is relatively fun and leads users through interactive, multi-stop mobile walking tours complete with descriptive text, photos, videos and more. Users can visit the campus, its significant landmarks and culture without physically being present in the campus, directly supporting recruitment and retention efforts.

These modules are built on the new generation of open source middleware which significantly reduces development time for universities. Hence, the modules can be easily themed with the school logos, text styles, background colors and icons. Many universities in over 25 countries - including Harvard, MIT, Georgetown, NYU, University of British Columbia, and Villanova University - use Kurogo-powered Mobile Solutions.
