The University of Oregon (UO) and an 18-year-old female student agreed to a settlement in a lawsuit in which she claimed to have been raped by three men's basketball players.

The woman, identified in the suit only as "Jane Doe," sued the school in Jan. for negligence in allowing her attackers not only to remain on campus, but to play in basketball games after she reported the alleged incident to authorities.

According to the Associated Press, OU will pay $800,000 in the settlement, as well as the woman's room and board for four years, and will revise its rules regarding transfer student-athletes.

The woman initially sued OU head men's basketball coach Dana Altman for accepting the transfer of one player, Brandon Austin, who was dismissed from his previous school's team for sexual assault allegations. She dropped her lawsuit against Altman last week.

OU President Michael H. Schill told the AP the settlement is not meant as an admission of guilt for the school, athletic department, or men's basketball staff.

"The underlying incident that gave rise to the litigation is an affront to each and every one of us," Schill wrote in a letter to the campus community. "In approving this settlement, it is my hope that we focus our attention and considerable expertise on making our campus one on which all students will feel secure in the knowledge that they will be free from sexual violence."

The woman accused Austin, Damyean Dotson, and Dominic Artis of sexually assaulting her on March 9, 2014. She reported the incident days later, but the three still played in the Oregon Ducks' NCAA Tournament run that season.

Their dismissal from the team and ban from campus came after the tournament's conclusion, OregonLive.com reported. They will not be allowed back on campus for four to 10 years, though they never faced charges for the alleged assault.
