Authorities have issued a warning after two great white sharks were spotted close to the coast of Massachusetts. Earlier, the authorities had issued a warning on July 28 after the white sharks were spotted swimming very close to the swimming areas.
ABC News reported that Atlantic White Shark Conservancy shared pictures that showed a research boat near one of the two great white sharks that were identified on July 28. Marine Fisheries Biologist John Chisholm was on board the boat.
"We spotted multiple sharks on Tuesday and got enough footage of two for the scientists to ID them," Atlantic White Shark Conservancy President Cynthia Wigren told ABC News.
The activity in this area is higher than last year. The season doesn't come to an end until the end of October, said researchers. Scientists in the different parts of the world are also making efforts to count sharks by lowering baited cameras into the ocean.
It has been reported that Chisholm is participating in a five-year study of white sharks alongside the conservancy to determine the number of sharks in the Cape Cod area, reported NH Voice.
The researchers have identified 68 white sharks off the coast of Massachusetts in the first year of this study. On July 23, researchers spotted six white sharks and also managed to tag a female great white shark.
