After a small drop in last year's ranking, the University of Illinois (UI) at Urbana-Champaign rose to the top of The Princeton Review's "Top Party School" list.

Likely due to last year's distinction at the top of the list, Syracuse University dropped to fifth overall this year. UI was ranked third overall in 2013, but dropped to fifth last year, before rising to the top.

While it is a distinction students love, and which earns many a headline, administrators typically care little for it and sometimes speak out against the ranking.
