Early reports and speculation have the iPhone 6S looking a lot like its immediate predecessor, but what comes on the inside could be drastically different.

Mac Rumors obtained a leaked image from a French website called Nowhereelse.fr that was apparently the front panel of the iPhone 6S. Its similarity to the current iPhone 6/6 Plus model only fueled speculation that Apple was preparing their third "S" model handset.

Based on a number of analysts' best guesses and insider information, Business Insider compiled a list of several features that could appear on the next iPhone.

1. Force Touch: BI stated three analysts indicated this will be a "marquee feature." Force Touch can sense pressure as well as various other ways of interacting with the screen, meaning Apple could offer some new touch screen commands.

2. Gaming and app usage: Timothy Arcuri, of Cowen and Company, told BI Force Touch essentially "makes [the screen] three-dimensional." He and White are looking forward to how Apple will apply the technology to Apple Pay, app functionality, and gaming.

3. 12-MP camera: the iPhone's camera has long been considered among the best of any smartphone on the market, yet Apple has not upgraded its megapixel count since the 4S. Brian White, of Cantor Fitzgerald, told BI his research indicates this will be among the iPhone 6S' upgrades.

There may be one aesthetic change with the iPhone 6S, however. Ming-Chi Kuo, a KGI Securities analyst well known for uncovering Apple rumors, told Value Walk Apple could release their next iPhone in new "colorways" designed to match the second Apple Watch.
