Best Female Athlete: Breanna Stewart, a guard/forward for the National Champion UConn Huskies, goes up against Ronda Rousey, Serena Williams and Lindsey Vonn. Stewart is the AP's Player of the Year and the Naismith Trophy winner two years running and the second female Husky to win the Final Four Most Outstanding Player honor more than once, after Diana Taurasi.
Best Breakthrough Athlete: Cardale Jones, the third-string quarterback who led Ohio State to the College Football Playoff national title, is up against Mo'Ne Davis, Odell Beckham Jr. and Jordan Spieth.
Best Coach or Manager: a trio of college coaches are going up against Bill Belichick and Steve Kerr.
Urban Meyer led Ohio State to the Big Ten title and the National Championship, losing only one game and having to win the final three games with his third-string quarterback.
Geno Auriemma led the UConn Huskies to their 10th National Championship and third in a row.
Mike Krzyzewski registered his 1,000th win as a college basketball coach the same season he led Duke to win the NCAA Tournament, his fifth such title.
