The football staff at UCLA has decided not to press charges against hip-hop mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs.

Sources connected to the UCLA Bruins told TMZ that the coaches are "regretful" the situation led to an arrest. They do not want a criminal prosecution or to make "this a courtroom spectacle," because it would be bad for the team.

The 45-year-old rapper was arrested and charged with charged with three counts of assault with a deadly weapon, one count of making terrorist threats and one count of battery after he allegedly confronted UCLA football coach Sal Alosi with a kettlebell, according to the university.

Diddy's Sources told TMZ the rap mogul acted in "self defense and was not the aggressor." The rap mogul's son is a defensive back on the UCLA Bruins football team, ESPN reported.

No one was seriously injured and campus police are still investigating, according to school officials.

"I'm thankful that our staff showed the level of professionalism that they did in handling this situation," Football coach Jim Mora said in a statement. "This is an unfortunate incident for all parties involved. While UCPD continues to review this matter, we will let the legal process run its course and refrain from further comment at this time."

Combs was released from Los Angeles County jail after 10 p.m. on Monday after posting $50,000 bail.

Law Enforcement sources told TMZ that the case will "go to the L.A. County D.A. for felony review next week."

Diddy is scheduled to appear in court July 13 at 8:30 a.m.
