Michigan's highest-rated men's basketball recruit from the class of 2016 is reevaluating his options one month after verbally committing to the school.
First reported by Scout.com and confirmed later by ESPN, Tyus Battle, a five-star shooting guard from Edison, N.J., de-committed from Michigan. He is also expected to take an official visit to Syracuse University.
Per ESPN, Battle is also considering offers from UConn, Duke, Louisville, Notre Dame and Ohio State. There is also the possibility that he reaffirms his initial choice.
"Just the mixture of academics and athletics," Battle told Scout.com in May after committing to Michigan. "I really love the basketball situation and coach Beilein and the rest of the staff. They are amazing coached. You can see how they develop their players like Caris, Nik Stauskas and Tim Hardaway. That's a big deal to me.
"I really liked the school going into the visit, but after I took the visit it clarified it."
Battle ranks 27th overall on the ESPN 100 list for the class of 2016 and is the top prospect in the state of N.J., as well as the seventh best at his position. Scout placed Battle 10th overall in their class of 2016 ranking.
After his visit to Syracuse, the five-star prospect will be able to take one more and has already seen the campuses of Duke, Louisville and Michigan. It is not clear if Battle plans to use his last visit and where he plans to go.
