Keith Ford, once a five-star running back recruit for the Oklahoma Sooners, announced he will transfer to Texas A&M.

Speaking with 247Sports.com, Ford said his decision was sealed after he made an unofficial visit to the College Station campus Thursday. Ford was facing an indefinite suspension at Oklahoma in addition to reduced playing time with the return of Joe Mixon.

"I'm going to Aggieland," Ford told 247Sports.com. "It feels great. When I went up there today you could really tell how much time they put into their player's futures. They care about you getting your degree as much as your success on the field. What really helped me come to my decision was when I sat down with Coach [Kevin] Sumlin. It didn't sound like it was rehearsed or anything. He was just talking to me man-to-man and laid out his expectations for me. He also wanted me to believe in him. After I heard all of that I was like, 'Yea, I'm coming here.' I can't wait to get up there."

Ford will have to sit out a year before being able to play at Texas A&M due to his transfer and will have two more years of eligibility.

"Come next spring I'm going to have to compete for my spot just like everyone else," Ford said. "I have a lot of opportunities because of how the offense is set up."

Ford ran for 392 yards and five touchdowns on 71 attempts last season for the Sooners, but his season was cut short by a broken leg. Heading into this season, ESPN reported, the school suspended him from the football team indefinitely for a violation of academic and team rules.

"It felt like I was supposed to be there," he told 247Sports.com. "At first it didn't work out but God has a plan for me and God said I was supposed to be at Texas A&M. I feel very confident and very happy about my decision. It's all come full circle."
