For a brief period of time Monday, Everett Golson was rumored to have made up his mind on a transfer destination.

The Palm Beach Post first reported Golson was planning his announcement Monday and was leaning toward Florida State. Citing unnamed sources, the newspaper reported Golson visited Tallahassee to talk to Florida State head football coach Jimbo Fisher and that there is mutual interest between the two sides.

Allowed to transfer without penalty thanks to the NCAA's rules for graduates, Golson seemed to have options all over the nation. ESPN learned earlier in the month Notre Dame's compliance office approved a list of 10 potential schools Golson would transfer to.

All were reportedly Power 5 members, but none could be teams Notre Dame plays this season, ruling out Texas, which could have been a strong fit for both sides. Also potentially in Golson's way is the SEC's own restriction against graduate transfer student-athletes.

That left Florida State as a natural fit and Fisher openly acknowledged his team was open to adding Golson.

But Brett McMurphy reported Monday afternoon for ESPN that Golson was not going to announce a decision that day and "may visit more schools." It is unclear if Golson has visited all 10 schools on the list he provided to Notre Dame.

Florida, Georgia and Alabama are also believed to be interested in adding Golson. Another issue for Golson is his final season of eligibility is upon him and any team he joins may already have a quarterback in place.

In Florida State's case, Golson would have little time to earn the starting position from Sean Maguire, who has reportedly looked strong in the team's spring activities.
