Florida State appears to be the destination for Everett Golson, but quite possibly not because that is the program he chose.

Unnamed sources told 247Sports.com Florida State "is where [Golson's] headed" as long as nothing pops up in the 13th hour to change matters. But a couple significant roadblocks may be leaving Golson to choose Florida State by means of eliminating his top choices.

Tomahawk Nation reported that more than one source was indicating a Golson-to-Florida-State transfer was far from a sure thing, even unlikely. Florida State has a clear frontrunner to start at QB in Sean Maguire.

As Fox Sports' Bruce Feldman learned, Golson's options may be significantly limited. While the senior QB is free to transfer without penalty for graduating this year, Notre Dame will reportedly block him from landing at a school the Irish are playing this year.

Because Notre Dame does not have a home conference, those programs are all over the Power 5 landscape. Though it is not exactly clear where Golson was truly thinking of transferring, he can cross Texas - a team viewed as having a good fit for him - off his list.

Golson may also run into some trouble if he wants to transfer to an SEC school. The conference requires graduate transfers to clear seven requirements and Golson's past academic suspension is a clear violation. What's more is Golson was reportedly considering Alabama, LSU, Georgia and South Carolina.

Of course, the SEC could give him a waiver, but it would be a risk at the least.

ESPN learned Golson provided the Notre Dame compliance department with 10 schools he would like to transfer to. All that is known of the list is all schools were Power 5 members, at least one is in the Pac-12 and all were approved.

Golson is likely aware of all the potential roadblocks in front of him and is naturally arriving at Florida State as the least riskiest option.
