Caleb Swanigan, one of the top big men coming out of high school, de-committed from Michigan State and could make a decision on a new school soon.

According to ESPN, Swanigan verbally committed to Michigan State on April 10 and dropped out of the program nearly a month later. A Fort Wayne, Ind. native, Swanigan is believed to be heavily considering Purdue, since it is much closer to home than East Lansing, Mich.

Dan Dakich, interim head men's basketball coach at Indiana and a current analyst at ESPN, reported on Twitter Swanigan's commitment to Purdue was "done." It is possible the top-10 ESPN 100 center considered Indiana, but the school was not on his original consideration list.

But if Swanigan is willing to leave home, Cal may be his destination. Lindsay Brauner, of Cal Rivals, reported on Twitter that Swanigan was in contact with the Golden Bears' coaching staff the day he announced his de-commitment from Michigan State.

Cal seemingly came out of nowhere to put together one of the best recruiting classes in the nation, which includes a pair of five-star forwards in Jaylen Brown and Ivan Rabb. ESPN previously reported Cal head men's basketball coach Cuonzo Martin was originally recruiting Swanigan to lure Brown.

Swanigan was also reportedly considering powerhouse programs like Arizona, Duke and Kentucky, but Brauner learned his decision is likely down to Purdue and Cal.

Another possibility for Swanigan is to re-commit to Michigan State. Head men's basketball coach Tom Izzo has produced his fair share of NBA prospects and has won in the NCAA Tournament with less talent than he has incoming for next season. It would not be unprecedented for Swanigan to test the waters and ultimately choose to honor his first decision.

He told the Indianapolis Star in late April he has a great relationship with Izzo and chose Michigan State even though Rabb, a close friend, was leaning toward Cal.
