Just days before the deadline, D'Angelo Russell confirmed he will declare for the NBA Draft.

After spending one season at Ohio State, Russell seemed like a sure-fire one-and-done, but made it clear he would take his time and seriously consider staying in school another season.

"This was a hard decision because I knew I could come back and play with my teammates who I love, and to be coached by coach Thad Matta again would have been awesome, but at the same time I wanted to pursue my dream of playing in the NBA," Russell told ESPN. "I know what I am capable of and the sky's the limit with effort. I know I have a lot to work on."

The six-foot-five, 176-pound guard averaged 19 points, six rebounds and five assists per game for the Buckeyes while shooting .449 from the field, .411 from range and .756 from the line. At 19 years old, Russell has a high ceiling and his size gives him potential to fill out his slim frame and play more physically.

ESPN's evaluators love Russell's offensive game overall and his versatility as a shooter, ball handler and passer will allow him to play both guard positions. If he does add bulk, he will also be able to play small forward. Going into the draft, Russell is potentially a top-five selection and ranks as one of the two best guards available.

"You never know when this opportunity comes," he told ESPN. "I believe I am ready because my approach was to unpack my bags, get committed to winning and listening to the coaches -- as opposed to coming in and saying 'I am a pro' and trying to leave. I wasn't trying to get in and out at Ohio State."
