What may just be teams doing their due diligence in vetting Marcus Mariota has gotten out of hand for someone who coached the quarterback last season.

Speaking with OregonLive.com, Oregon Ducks offensive coordinator Scott Frost said he has fielded "some of the dumbest questions I've ever heard" in regards to Mariota. When trying to learn more about a potential face-of-the-franchise QB like Mariota, it is natural to talk to anyone and everyone who coached him.

But Frost thinks its "ridiculous" to keep asking if the reigning Heisman Trophy winner is "too nice."

"If that was the case, he wouldn't have won so many games around here," Frost told OregonLive.com, noting that he has received his fair share of intelligent questions regarding Mariota.

The main concern NFL evaluators have with Mariota is that Oregon's offensive system is too collegiate and that the Heisman winner's stats may have been boosted because of it. But Mike Sando wrote a piece for ESPN the Magazine's upcoming NFL Draft issue, debuting online, rejecting the notion that Mariota is a product of a great system. Mariota's stock is now apparently rising again, but this time at about the ideal moment, when NFL teams' front offices are getting firsthand looks at the top prospects.

ESPN NFL Draft experts Todd McShay and Mel Kiper both raised Mariota's projected selection up to second overall, but not necessarily because the Tennessee Titans want him. CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora learned recently the Rams, Browns, Eagles and Chargers have all expressed interest in moving up to the second overall selection to take Mariota.

Whether these reports are true or not, it bodes well for Mariota because the more he is in demand, the more likely he will be drafted with either of the first two selections later this month.
