UW Employees Honored at Staff Recognition Day
ByApril 19, 2012 - Vonnie Jenkin, computer support specialist at the College of Law, Wednesday was named the University of Wyoming's outstanding employee of the year during the annual Staff Recognition Day at UW.
Dozens of employees were honored for their years of service and contributions to UW. Sponsored by UW Staff Senate, with support from the UW Office of the President, Staff Recognition Day encourages and acknowledges the work of all UW staff members.
The President's Foundation Awards for outstanding campus service were presented to Shirley Black, a facilities/grounds attendant; Jim Rector, manager of UW's plumbing shop; and Ralph Stenback, a food service attendant in Residence Life and Dining Services.
Elaine Force, an office associate in the Department of Sociology, and Cindy Wood, an accounting associate in the Department of Ecosystem Science and Management, each received the E.G. Meyer Family Outstanding Staff Service Award.
The Jody K. Humphrey Inspirational Staff Award recipient was Travis Laurance, Instructional Lab coordinator.
Ben Marks, computer support specialist for Residence Life and Dining Services, received the Pete Simpson Golden Gloves Award.
UW Staff Incentive awards were presented to JoelAnne Berrigan, an accountant in Outreach Credit Programs; Gail Lamb, accounting associate in agricultural administration; and Lil Melius, a baker in Residence Life and Dining Services.
The Skilled Crafts award was presented to Bob Carstens, who works in the UW Paint Shop.
Winner of the Skilled Services Award was Joe Roybal, physical grounds assistant in Custodial Services.
Unsung Hero full-time awards were presented to Suzann Koller, of the Office of Institutional Analysis, and bus driver Kent Wilson of Parking and Transit Services.
Unsung Hero part-time awards went to Erin Dobyns, project coordinator assistant in the School of Nursing, and Margie Reis, office assistant senior in the College of Business's Department of Economics and Finance.
UW Off-Campus Staff Awards were presented to Norma Murphy, office assistant at the UW/Casper College Center, and Roger Siemion, lab technician in the Wyoming State Vet Lab.
Ed Koncel, assistant lecturer in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, was honored with the UW Friends Staff Award.
