The Blue Devils are playing in their 20th regional final. It's the 14th under the team's coach Mike Krzyzewski, the most by any active coach.
This is the Bulldog's 17th consecutive NCAA trip (35-2), but their first regional final since 1999.
"This moment is big for this team. They're hungry to get to a Final Four and to keep playing," Gonzago coach Mark Few is quoted as saying by the Associated Press.
Bulldog's senior guard Kevin Pangos reiterated his coach's sentiment, stating that the team wants to show that they are a force to be reckoned with and one of the "top programs" in the country.
"It's a great feeling to be here, but we're not satisfied. We really want to make that next step," Pangos said.
The winner of this match will face the Michigan State Spartans on Saturday.
