Even when they are the higher ranked team, the Butler Bulldogs (6) manage to be the underdogs, though that will not be the case against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (3).

It was the case when they played Texas in the NCAA Tournament Round of 64, but will likely be even truer against the Irish, who are coming off an ACC Tournament victory. Though at this point, not being favored in the Big Dance seems to be part of Butler's modus operandi.

According to the Associated Press, one of Butler's season goals is to be the best team in the state of Indiana. A small private school in Indianapolis and a Big East member, it is easy to forget about Butler even when the Hoosiers are not particularly strong.

"One of the things we wanted to do was compete and beat all these Indiana schools," Butler center Kameron Woods said in a press conference, according to the AP. "Anytime you play anybody in state, you just want to compete. But we know we're both taking a plane back to Indiana at some point."

But standing in the way is Notre Dame, certainly a household name in college athletics, just not basketball. The Irish have been to the Big Dance more than 30 times, but have never taken home the big prize, only making the Final Four once.

Fresh off a closer-than-desired win over Northeastern, Notre Dame will have to find ways to score against an energetic, tough defense. Forward Zach Auguste's presence down low will prove important in opening up the Irish's perimeter game.

"We've shown we can spread the floor and get inside," guard Jerian Grant said in a presser. "We know teams will want to take the 3 away from us, so we try to counter attack by getting to the basket."
