The North Carolina Tar Heels (19) and Notre Dame Fighting Irish (11) are meeting in the ACC Tournament Championship after completing two of the biggest upsets in the entire college basketball season.

North Carolina handed the conference's top-seeded Virginia its third loss of the entire season, putting up 71 points on a defense that allows 50 on average. Notre Dame beat Duke, the conference's second-seeded team, by 10 points despite allowing a big game from Jahlil Okafor.

Now one team is looking to end an ACC Tournament dry spell while the other is looking to make the most of their first trip to the title game.

"I played in the ACC championship game my freshman year (in 2013), and we came really close," North Carolina junior guard Marcus Paige said in a pregame press conference, according to ESPN. "We played a great game, and we were unable to come through and win it. So we'll have some extra motivation there.

"We're going to be hungry. At that point once they throw the ball up, you can't worry about being tired."

Notre Dame, on the other hand, is looking to cap off a massive turnaround from what was a 15-17 season a year ago. Notre Dame pulled off a narrow 71-70 victory all the way back on Jan. 5 in Chapel Hill, but both teams have come a long way since.

"We gave up 21 offensive rebounds that night and escaped in Chapel Hill," ESPN quoted Notre Dame coach Mike Brey saying in his pregame comments. "I thought they were playing really well, I thought they were really in a groove. We had our hands full. It was a great game down there.

"The key was, like we've done in these last two games, we got off to a great start there and it made us believe."
