After finishing the regular season a perfect 31-0, the Kentucky Wildcats are the Associated Press' unanimous number one in week 18 of the college basketball poll.

Kentucky has the chance to be the first undefeated team since the 1975-1976 Indiana Hoosiers and the first team to spend the entire season atop the AP poll since the 1990-1991 UNLV Rebels.

For now, Kentucky is going to have to wait. The final AP poll is due out next week and the Wildcats have a double bye to the quarterfinals of the SEC Tournament in front of them as well. Even in the event of an upset in their conference tournament, Kentucky still figures to earn a one-seed in the NCAA Tournament.

The top 10 was mostly unchanged, as Villanova (4), Arizona (5), Wisconsin (6), Gonzaga (7) and Kansas (9) all stayed put. After beating North Carolina (19) on the road, Duke (2) rose to take Virginia's (3) place after the Cavaliers lost to Louisville (14).

Despite the rankings switcheroo, Virginia had already clinched the ACC's top seed heading into their final game. But Duke is making a strong push heading into the postseason, going 14-1 ever since losing back-to-back contests to N.C. State and Miami in mid-Jan.

The only team joining the top 10 this week was Northern Iowa (10), who beat Illinois State for the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) title. They replace Wichita State (12), their MVC counterpart who fell four places after losing to Illinois State.

Dropping off the AP top 25 was Ohio State, Providence and Murray State, who occupied the bottom three spots, respectively. Replacing them, in the same order, was Georgetown, Davidson and Boise State.

The college basketball season is all but over and the conference tournaments are soon to be underway, meaning March Madness is upon us.
