Kentucky is first in the nation in points allowed on defense, first in blocks per game and they have seven players averaging at least 7.8 points per game. The difficult part of their schedule appears to be over, as they have beaten the likes of Kansas, Texas, UNC and Louisville.
"They're extremely well coached and they're a very good team," Alabama coach Anthony Grant said in an assessment of Kentucky, according to the Associated Press.
Like Kentucky, Alabama has several players averaging at least seven points per game, but are led by three scoring double digits.
Kentucky coach John Calipari said he is glad his team had two close calls against SEC opponents, but was also glad for the team to regain its "swag" with the big win over Missouri.
"You win a tough game and you need tough games," Calipari said in a pregame news conference, according to the AP. "I told the guys. They know. I told them right after the game, 'I don't expect you to play like it's March,' and we're not. Offensively we're still not. We still have guys not playing the way they need to play for us to really be special."
