Topeka - Five Washburn University students traveled to New Orleans to participate in a Leadership Exchange program March 8-13. The students attended and co-facilitated sessions at the Spring Leadership Conference on University of New Orleans' campus and share thoughts, perspectives, and experiences about leadership with a group of young leaders from a unique part of the county. The conference included student leaders from three universities: McKendree University, University of New Orleans and Washburn University.
The program is designed to initiate an open dialogue about key issues affecting young leaders today and is also geared toward challenging students to expand their global mindset beyond their home institution. Additionally, the Leadership Exchange contained cultural dimensions, including a discovery of New Orleans' history, service to the community, an exploration of the city's distinct historical and artistic influences, and a special educational component about leadership in response to Hurricane Katrina.
