The Notre Dame Fighting Irish will be without their starting power forward Zach Auguste for an unspecified amount of time, as he is reportedly dealing with an academic issue.

Notre Dame head men's basketball coach Mike Brey confirmed to ESPN Wednesday that Auguste will miss the team's road game that night against Georgia Tech. Brey was keen to point out that Auguste was not suspended, but was instead back on campus sorting the issue out.

ESPN's Andy Katz reported via Twitter receiving the text message from Brey explaining the situation.

A Notre Dame spokesperson told the South Bend Tribune Brey will comment further on Auguste's status after the game. The spring semester was officially underway at the University of Notre Dame on Tuesday. Auguste is a film, television and theatre major in the UND College of Arts and Letters.

The Tribune noted that Brey mentioned getting Auguste back on track for the team's road game against Georgia Tech after the Jan. 10 loss to Virginia. That would mean Brey learned of Auguste's academic issue quite recently.

Before Brey contacted Katz, an unnamed source told ESPN that Auguste had been suspended indefinitely.

Notre Dame made headlines when the school suspended four football players for academic issues. In May 2013, the school suspended starting quarterback Everett Golson for a full season for academic reasons as well.

Auguste is averaging 14.3 points per game for the 12th-ranked Irish, the second highest total on the team. As a power forward, he has also been an important rebounder and low post defender for Notre Dame as well.
