The University of Virginia (UVA) has lifted the suspension on fraternity and sorority social events with the announcement of a new set of party rules.

According to the Huffington Post, the school released a new addendum to detail the new policy for all 61 of the official UVA Greek groups to follow. Each one must review and sign a Fraternal Organization Agreement document as well.

Under the new policy, one fraternity member must stand watch over the bedrooms, holding a key to each room so to be able to intervene in a troublesome matter. In addition to the watcher, two other brothers are required to have at least one year at the fraternity under his belt and must also be "sober and lucid" during the party.

Fraternities can no longer serve what is known as "Jungle Juice," a mixed drink typically served in a communal fashion with all sorts of different ingredients. One of the brothers sworn to stay sober for the night can serve poured drinks like wine and liquor and beer can only be served unopened in its container.

As for sororities, those associated with a national group are not allowed to host parties with alcoholic beverages, though a UVA official confirmed to the HP that the school's sororities are trying to change that. In the meantime, such parties need to be held off campus with a bartender.

"I believe the new safety measures recommended by the student leaders in the Greek community will help provide a safer environment for their members and guests," UVA President Teresa Sullivan said in a statement. "I would like to express my sincere appreciation to our student leaders who have worked so diligently in the past several weeks to bring forth substantive recommendations and improvements consistent with the ideals of our community of trust."
