Jameis Winston has reportedly decided to leave Florida State University (FSU) with two years of NCAA eligibility left.

His father, Antonor, told ESPN Wednesday morning that his son will enter the NFL Draft this spring. The deadline for college football players to enter the draft was not until Jan. 15 and Winston was reportedly going to wait until the National Title game was played.

While many insiders and pundits opined that going pro was Winston's best route, Yahoo Sports' Rand Getlin reported Tuesday that the QB was "seriously considering" staying in school.

Winston was a third-team All-American in baseball last season and said numerous times that he wanted to pursue baseball further. To declare for the NFL Draft now is a sign that Winston probably will not try to be a professional two-sport athlete.

ESPN Draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. firmly believes Winston will not be the first quarterback taken in the draft should Marcus Mariota declare. He played in a pro-style offense, has all the tools a team could want, but comes with more off-field issues than anyone would care for.

He also has many desirable intangible traits as well, such as the fact that he went 26-1 in two seasons, was the youngest Heisman Trophy winner ever and still displayed strong locker room leadership. But he has been accused of rape, caught shoplifting and seen shouting obscenities in public for no apparent reason.

Still, the promise of a potential franchise quarterback being somewhere within Winston should be enough for a team with a top-five draft pick to take him.
