Niagara University is hoping to deepen its partnership with Foreign Trade University, school officials announced Monday.
Niagara University and Foreign Trade University signed a memorandum of understanding last year. The purpose of the partnership was to develop a bilateral relationship between the institutions. As a result of the memorandum of understanding, two exchange students from Foreign Trade University will study at NU in the spring semester of 2015.
In addition, the two universities have reached deeper ties by establishing an "Academic Articulation Agreement," which was signed by the Rev. James J. Maher, C.M., Niagara University president, and Dr. Hoang Van Chau, Foreign Trade University president, on Christmas Eve.
"Niagara University is honored to join in strategic partnership with the Foreign Trade University of Vietnam, a premier university with outstanding students and faculty as well as the tremendous leadership of President Chau," Maher said in a statement. "We look forward to a strategic partnership that will enhance both our institutions."
This agreement further enhances the mutual respect between the universities and provides a platform for Foreign Trade University students to transfer to Niagara to complete their MBA degree at Niagara University's College of Business Administration, beginning with the fall semester of 2015.
"This articulation provides a unique opportunity for Vietnamese students to sustain their academic training and enhance their professional development," Chau said. "We recognized the premier reputation of Niagara University's College of Business Administration; therefore, we entrust our students to study at Niagara University. Thus, two students from Foreign Trade University will begin to attend NU this fall to begin this strategic partnership."
Foreign Trade University was established in 1960 in Hanoi City, Vietnam. Focused on making great contributions to the industrialization, modernization and global economic integration of Vietnam, it offers a wide range of majors and specializations in economics, business, business administration, finance and banking and foreign languages.
