The Texas Longhorns (6) have the chance to take a nice jump in the AP poll if they can manage an upset against the Kentucky Wildcats (1).

Both teams are showcasing a tough defense early on, whereas Texas' rebounding game has been outstanding and Kentucky's physicality has been overwhelming. Texas is getting its biggest test of the season by far, as the only ranked team they played previously was UConn.

According to the Associated Press, Kentucky coach John Calipari has managed his surplus of talented athletes by instilling selfless play on the offensive end.

"You don't get the numbers you want or anything like that, but it makes the team better, keeps you fresh and wears the other team out," point guard Andrew Harrison told reporters. "As long as we're winning, it's worth it."

It is paying off too, as Kentucky has three players scoring an average of 10 points per game and four more averaging eight. Texas will not be able to key in on one player, so their strong rebounding will have to continue so the Wildcats do not get any second chances on missed shots.

"It's not easy," Texas coach Rick Barnes told reporters of defending a team that has so many capable scorers. "There's certain things when you go in, when you're playing against a team that's going 10 deep or whatever they need to do, it's definitely a different challenge."

Texas has a well-rounded offensive approach as well, with two players averaging 12 points and three players averaging eight. However, they will be without Isaiah Taylor, their injured guard who was averaging 15 points in his three games.

Texas knows they will not be able to afford another slow start, like the one they had against UConn, because a team of Kentucky's caliber would bury them.
