The Arizona Wildcats (7) have had no time to feel fortunate for getting to play for the Pac-12 Championship, as they must focus on a tall order in Marcus Mariota and the Oregon Ducks (2).

Mariota is the overwhelming favorite for the Heisman Trophy this season, as he has thrown for 36 touchdowns, ran for 11 and even caught one, while only throwing two interceptions and no fumbles. In three years as Oregon's starter, Mariota has lost four times and half of those defeats belong to Arizona, according to ESPN.

Arizona coach Rich Rodriguez said the key to beating the Mariota-led Ducks is not to shut him down, but rather to slow him down.

"If you look back at his stats, he got a lot of yards and big plays, but we got a couple turnovers. Some of it was great individual effort and some of it was a little bit of luck," Rodriguez told reporters ahead of the game. "If you go back to this game or even the game last season, he still got his yards, and he is still going to get his yards and make his plays.

"I think Marcus has been one of the best quarterbacks in the country since he made his first start."

Oregon's one loss this season came against Arizona, at home no less, holding them down to 24 points, about half the offensive output the Ducks average. Mariota did not throw an interception, but the Ducks committed two turnovers and the Wildcats held an edge in time-of-possession while outgaining their opponents with a balanced offensive approach.

Oregon will secure their spot in the College Football Playoff if they win whereas Arizona would likely need more than one team ahead of them to stumble.

"We're just going to play our game. Arizona did a great job setting and dictating tempo in the last meeting," Mariota told reporters. "If we go out and execute to the best of our abilities and execute the game plans that are put in front of us, we should hopefully be successful."
