The Alabama Crimson Tide (1) is back on top and can secure their place in the SEC title game with an Iron Bowl win over the Auburn Tigers (15).

Alabama is also looking to get Auburn back for last year's Iron Bowl game, which cost them the SEC West title and the National Championship. Auburn may not be able to repeat what they did in last year's postseason, but they can spoil their in-state rival's hopes.

According to the Associated Press, the 2014 Iron Bowl is the sixth consecutive one to have some sort of effect on the national title game. Only this year, one of four spots is on the line with the inaugural College Football Playoff.

The "kick-six" that will go down in Iron Bowl lore is fresh in a lot of Tide players' minds.

"It shows up on the TV every now and again, and it breaks our heart every time," Alabama safety Landon Collins told reporters. "In one second they took our whole chance away of winning anything, and definitely it rewinds in my head. Definitely it will rewind in my head constantly throughout this week."

Last year, Alabama had the chance to win the game on a long field goal, which came up short and gave way to a 109-yard return from Chris Davis to send the Tigers to the SEC title game. There they beat Missouri, but could not hold their lead in the National Championship and finished as runners up to Florida State.

"I'm just happy to have the opportunity to play in it," Alabama quarterback Blake Sims told reporters of his first Iron Bowl start. "I've been waiting five years for it. Auburn is a great team."
