While Oregon has locked up the Pac-12 North, the Southern division is up for grabs as two contenders, the Arizona Wildcats (15) and Utah Utes (17) squaring off.

To reach the Pac-12 title game, Arizona will need to win both its remaining games while getting help from elsewhere in the division. With two losses, Utah's chances are considerably weaker, but a loss would eliminate them all together.

The Wildcats will need UCLA to beat USC later Saturday night and then to lose to Stanford the following weekend. After Utah, Arizona must fend off in-state rival Arizona State, another team vying for the Pac-12 South. Utah would at least have an easier final game than their current matchup and will play Colorado next weekend.

"We haven't won every close game. We know that, but these guys believe that they are going to win every game that they are in," Utes coach Kyle Whittingham told reporters ahead of the game, according to ESPN. "When it comes right down to the wire, there is a lot of belief on our team that they are going to get it done. And they have most weeks."

In the Pac-12, second-ranked Oregon has already clinched its shot at playing for the conference title and games against Colorado and Oregon State will help them stay in the College Football Playoff (CFP) top four. Meanwhile, five teams are contending for the southern division, meaning five teams could theoretically upset Oregon for the conference title and make their own claim for the CFP.

"It's always in the back of your mind, but it shouldn't be because none of that matters anyway. Right now, we're just trying to focus on the Utah game coming up this weekend," Arizona offensive lineman Mickey Baucus said. "We need a little help to win the South, but if we don't win the rest of our games, it doesn't even matter. We need to keep our focus on this week."
