The big question surrounding the CFP is whether or not the SEC will have more than one team in one of those four spots. However, teams like Ole Miss, Alabama, Mississippi State and Auburn tangle with one another as the season winds down.
"It's just the SEC West," Tide quarterback Blake Sims said Monday, according to the Associated Press. "There's a lot of great teams, and Mississippi State is a great team."
For Mississippi State, it is simple: win and stay on top while Alabama would definitely break into the top four if they can win Saturday. Elsewhere in the SEC, Auburn is trying to keep their shot at the SEC West alive as they play Georgia, a team trying to catch Missouri for the SEC East.
Playing on the road against Nick Saban and the Tide, the Bulldogs are not favored to win, which coach Can Mullen says he can use as motivation for his team.
"Every article you read, everywhere you look, we're the big underdog in this game," Mullen told reporters. "We've done that before and we know that role. We'll be OK with that. Our guys will play with great effort and with a chip on our shoulder that we try to play with every week no matter what the rankings or what everyone else is predicting."
