The California Golden Bears will bring their high-powered passing offense into the Coliseum Thursday night against the USC Trojans to try and become bowl eligible for the first time since 2011.

The Bears have a shot at redeeming themselves for the three game skid they ended last weekend on the road against Oregon State. USC is looking to find its way back to the AP poll after losing to Utah two weeks ago, but still have the likes of UCLA and Notre Dame waiting after Cal.

According to their team website, USC is only playing on Thursday night game that is not a bowl game or Thanksgiving game for the second time since occupying the Coliseum. USC has also played Cal more times than any other opponent and Thursday night is their 101st meeting.

With four losses in the Pac-12, Cal cannot hope to catch Oregon for the Northern division, but they can help themselves become bowl eligible for the first time since 2011. Even with their 5-4 record, the Bears are enjoying a nice turnaround from their 1-11 campaign last season. Cal is also trying to break a losing streak against USC that stretches back to 2003 and to 2000 in the Coliseum.

Cal should look to play aggressively on offense, as they have averaged 42 points per game with 361 yards through the air. However, they have been allowing an average of 40 points per game.

Still trying to catch Arizona State in the Pac-12 South, USC will hit Cal with a well-rounded offense led by quarterback Cody Kessler and tailback Javorius Allen.
