If you don't know where ESPN's College Gameday crew is going to be on Saturday, it won't take too long to figure it out.
Notre Dame and Florida State's showdown this weekend is quickly turning into one of the most hyped must-watch games of the college football season. The inaugural College Football Playoff is looming and the selection committee has made it known that strength of schedule will be important.
Adding to the intrigue for the Seminoles is the uncertainty of Jameis Winston's status. Sports gambling books in Las Vegas are uncertain of whether or not the autograph investigation will keep him out of the game, so several have blocked betting on the matchup.
An ESPN college football analyst and former quarterback at Ohio State, Kirk Herbstreit said on "SportsCenter" this week that this game features the two best QBs in college football. Whether or not he was trying to drum up more hype for the game, he made a valid point.
"It's hard to go against Jameis Winston," Herbstreit said. "He's undefeated as a starter and despite everything that's going on right now, he's a proven winner. Gotta give him all the credit in the world for being able to find a way to win games. Even this year it hasn't always been pretty, but they've been able to come up with a win at the end.
"Both these guys, I mean one guy has one loss as a starter, the other guy is undefeated. They're the two best starting quarterbacks in the entire country."
Everett Golson lost a year to an academic suspension, but he has lost one time in his two-year career as a starter while Winston is undefeated. However, strength of schedule is going to come into play in this game.
Florida State does not have another currently ranked opponent on their schedule. On the other hand, Notre Dame has matchups against Arizona State and USC, who are both ranked. An FBS-independent team, the Irish can make Saturday a statement win by taking down the reigning National Champions.
